Use your own domain

Web hosting accounts that use a domain not registered with Rackfish or have DNS servers registered elsewhere need to be pointed to your web hosting account to be activated.

You can find the address of your web hosting server through Control Panel - Services - Web Hosting.

Click on the package you want to manage (if you have several) and then select "Account Usage / Info" in the menu on the left. Under "Server Information" is "Shared IP Address" which is the address of your account.

Follow your provider's instructions on how to point the URL there. Contact us if there is a problem!

If you have any e-mail services, these also need to be re-pointed.

The most common information you need to enter is:

@ MX 3600 nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
@ A 3600 nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
www A 3600 nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn

Note that changing the DNS takes some time to complete. Depending on your server setup, it can take a few minutes to a couple of days. It is often re-pointed within one or a few hours if it does not happen immediately!

Alternatively, you can request the transfer of your domain to Rackfish or register a completely new domain.
